Whenever it gets to this time of year, we're usually faced with two very conflicting thoughts. The first is that summer has now come to an end, the other is that we can now begin to plan and take our winter wardrobes seriously. Every cloud has a silver lining, after all...
With that, this week marks the arrival of a very distinct shift in the way we will begin to approach personal styling. For one, the 70s boho mood is resolutely positioned to take centre stage for at least another season. The other, is that there is now a very obvious call for something a little more sophisticated and structured. Maybe it's something to do with the overkill on floaty summer dresses and cheesecloth material, but there's also been a distinct lack of structure to our wardrobes of late.
It's time to call in the 'big guys' and take control of our wayward, dreamy looks with some architectural shapes and established references to bring our looks back into the 21st century. We also just need something a little more practical and office-worthy. So, with that said, here is our rundown of the top five new Handbags
from the Autumn / Winter 2015 collection
to invest in this month.
1. The Allegra
Creative Director, Melissa Del Bono's first fully structured handbag, the Allegra was designed with all the DNA of the iconic Thela Tote Bag
, but with a vintage inspired reference.
2. The Clemence Saddle Bag
meli melo's first foray into the coveted crescent shape, this must-have design takes inspiration from the belted detailing on military jackets and trench coats. A versatile piece for running between appointments and less is more days.
3. The New Halo
Forever a classic, the Halo has recently been relaunched with a refreshed new set of elegant handles, now re-positioned to sit traditionally along either side of the top opening and allowing you to carry the bag in a more conservative style. This is a piece that will match with any look, for any occasion.
4. The Polly Satchel
Taking its inspiration from the college and student classic, this utilitarian style shade has been craftily reworked by Melissa to feature an original belted detail to match that of the Clemence saddle bag. It offers a more feminine touch to the boyishly boxy shape of this timeless style, which is perfect for carrying laptops, important documents and much more.
5. The Sian Shopper
Every girl needs a classic Tote Bag
, and the Sian Shopper has perfected the charm of the minimalist style handbag. This smooth leather, capacious bag is ideal for days when you need to carry more than usual. Its large open compartment is perfect for holding larger essentials, while the elegant rounded handles enable it to be carried in the crook of the arm, in the hands or over the shoulder.
