A versatile must-have for the girl about town and the multitasking fashionista, the Backpack is still our transeasonal champion in the accessories department. We show you three classic and unique ways to get the most amount of wear out of stylish comeback king.
The allure of a backpack is that it's just so easy to wear. Slide it over one shoulder in a hurry, or slip both arms through and wear it on your back as the style was intended. Et voila! You're ready to go hands-free. But with a meli melo Backpack, there are even more ways to maximise the amount of wear out of your bag.
Designed to be worn in both the classic backpack style and as a chic Shoulder Bag, the appeal lies in the way that it's shoulder strap can be removed to create the desired effect.
1. Back to Back
As the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Channel the 90s bag trend and embrace vagabond chic with a beautiful leather style in your favourite shade. The key to this look is to keep your details subtle and the focus on the texture of the leather. Purists will love the smooth finish of the Italian Napa Leather. If you're looking for more of a statement, play with Ponyskin and gemstone finishes for a meli melo take on the contemporary trophy bag. Can't do without colour? Achieve an instant summer look with the sunny Printed Abstraction design - a unique design that we love to pair with tonal pastels shades or contrast against darker separates.
2. Dusty Off Your Shoulder
While you may already be slinging your backpack over one shoulder in a dash, it's common knowledge that the bag never really sits quite right. So Creative Director and Founder of meli melo, Melissa Del Bono had the bright idea of adding a detachable shoulder strap to turn the backpack into an original shoulder bag. Simply fastened via the discreet silver hardware rings at the top and back, the strap enables the backpack to sit more naturally against the side of your silhouette - almost as a sort of reworking of the Bucket Bag style.
We're not usually fans of matching accessories, but when done well it can create a very defining look. Perhaps you're running between meetings during the day, wearing something easy and loose fitting. Later on, you need to re-polish your look for a dinner date and need something to create a streamlined look. We recommend using the adjustable strap as a belt to create a cinched in waist. This subtle addition of the leather around your middle marries perfectly with the backpack.
