Meet Melissa Del Bono & Shoko
Creative Director Melissa Del Bono mixes her Italian flair and understated London style to create her sought after accessories. A British brand with a true Italian Heritage, Melissa’s handbags are instantly recognisable and unique. Her passion for using only the finest sourced materials and highest quality means Melissa goes out of her way to ensure the most exceptional craftsmanship, and travels to find inspiring new materials and idea’s.
After launching the label in 2005 from her London home, Melissa realised her brand was more than just a hobby. Vogue UK instantly took notice of the first meli melo bags and launched the brand into the fashion world as the new accessories brand to watch. Raised in the idyllic Aeolian Island of Lipari, the handbags have an essence of Island Charm having been inspired by the large wicker baskets the local women would carry when Melissa was a little girl.
meli melo has now evolved into a global brand worn by the worlds glossiest faces including fashion influencer Olivia Palermo and super-models Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Georgia May Jagger. Shoko is a renowned Artist and Fashion Blogger who divides her time between her Native Japan and London. Having studied at London’s Central St Martins, Shoko creates original artwork and content that regularly contributes to the worlds Top glossy publications. Her knowledge of the creative industry and fashion world have also resulted in the publishing of Shoko’s own illustrative lifestyle guide books and photography. meli melo is extremely proud to collaborate with Shoko to create something totally unique. Shoko’s illustrations tell the tale of meli melo’s mystical creature in it’s many different Fantasy worlds.
