With Pop Art being such a hot topic this season and inspired by our Spring Summer collection
of paint splattered pieces we wanted to round up our favourite art shows taking place across the globe this month.
Pop Art Design at the Barbican London is our first pick. Its the first comprehensive exhibition to explore the exciting exchange of ideas between artists and designers in the Pop age. Pop Art Design paints a new picture of Pop – one that recognises the central role played by design. And why not treat yourself to a Pow Wow, Warhol or Cowboy - just some of the delicious cocktails available at the new 'Pop' themed museum bar.
If you happen to be visiting the beautiful city of Venice, Italy make a trip to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. There you will find amongst others some of Jackson Pollock's work hanging in the beautiful surroundings of the unfinished 18th century Grand Canal palace. Peggy Guggenheim was dedicated by the advancement of 20th century art, the palace is her former home.
Ileana Sonnabend: Ambassador for the New running at the Musuem of Modern Art, New York
The exhibition explores the famous gallerist and noted art collector Sonnabend’s legendary eye through selected works of art that she presented in her eponymous galleries in Paris and New York. Renowned for her ambassadorial role in bringing new art across the Atlantic, Sonnabend was instrumental in introducing American Pop art and Minimalism to Europe and Italian Arte Povera to the United States.
