The meli melo creative process begins nine months prior to a collection's debut. Inspiration is drawn from travel experiences and cultural references. Once a design has been visualised from initial sketch to a computer rendered version it is sent to the Spanish manufacturer where a first sample is made. The design is revisited until both designer and manufacturer are completely satisfied,
the handbag can then proceed to production

The company goes to great lengths continuously sourcing the best tanneries to supply fine Italian leathers in the most vibrant colours and interesting textures. Leathers are carefully selected to complement each design. Cervo is a buttery soft leather used in classic Thela forms and across the meli melo range. For a more structured form Saffiano leather is an ideal skin. Whilst Nabuk is a soft suede feel leather that allows for slouchy silhouettes. Once the most suitable leather has been chosen for the design, and hardware approved the manufacturing process can begin.
